The empire total war models themselves just seem to be more 3D and have more 'real' detail without relying on tricks. Empire's models just look awesome in comparision. I simply love looking closely at the fights and also enjoy the fidelity at higher distances.Ĭompared to this in Empire. I noticed in the ROME2 video that zooming out that models very quickly turned into black shadows instead of men. IIRC in Empire you zoom out and you still get to see the battle in all its detail. The other thing that CA did to the game from napoleon onwards is that when you zoomed out you lost detail very very quickly and all the models seemed to turn black. The Empire models simply have more detail.

The ETW ones are very sharpe, the napoleon one below is less sharp. We went from Empire in the top pic to napoleons models in the bottom one. I just did another search and here is where the image is from.
